The newsletter was not fake. I guess this is how it feels when someone reads your diary, something you hadn't intended anyone else to see. Not to deflect the heat but to explain why what I'm about to say, I wasn't involved with writing it. The only reason I mention that is because I am not going to presume to know the minds of the people who did have comments in there. I am not going to throw people I love under the bus or to the lions or whatever. I can't/won't answer questions about what they said or why they said it.

Our newsletters are written as a means to bring about discussion (that sometimes can even become heated debate) among our coworkers. That's really all I can say about it. I am not a game designer. I'm a mouthpiece. I'll admit it. By the time I get involved, the decisions have been made. Not making excuses for myself, just explaining.

You have to admit that some people are vexed about the high cost of the monocle... but not because they would buy one at 3/4 the cost.

I think Pann might have mistyped (as she did with Nobel/Noble) and put that instead of NeX/Microtransaction. That's the chief concern atm, and of course there are the other more immediate ones and of course the longer tail concerns that many of you have mentioned here.

Holy hell, made it to the end of the threadnaught...and I only started an hour ago to catch up. What to say...what to say. One, I was disappointed when I found out that there were MT coming to the game. I mean, do I really want to pay to play a game so I can pay to play a game? But they swore that it would be just vanity items, so I figured what the hell, my character doesn't need to be pretty, just needs to shoot at things. Then came the CQ, which is basically a showcase for all that pretty stuff that you paid for with real money. Great, a sales gimmick. So I go stand next to my ship...and noticed something. Whenever I arrive back in the station, the camera turns itself away from the fierce Mael floating in the hangar, and points me back at my empty CQ. Sales gimmick part 2. So I turned it off...hello door. No need to expand there.

Now we're talking about actually paying extra for ships, which has not been explicitly denied. Now I'm a router/switch/firewall guy. If you don't explicitly deny, than it's implicitly allowed...catch my drift?

So now not only can I pay to play a game to pay to play a game, but I HAVE to pay to pay to play. We're customers, not captives. We will leave.

Anxiously awaiting tomorrow's "press release" and hoping there are some solid answers, not just damage control.

Well, a "lot" is an admitted overstatement. I was thinking specifically at the time though of the fact that _some_ people don't realize that NeX stuff on sale now can be purchased with in game ISK through purchasing PLEX.

It's a relatively small point, and I probably should have (a) been clearer or (b) not said anything at all.

There is a lot more logic being said here though and a lot of passion as well, and I don't mean to try to diminish that.

1. can't you get AUR by using isk in game. meaning that if some crazy ship did come out that could only be purchased by AUR wouldnt it be the same as paying for it with isk? making it just like a normal ship on the market?

2. I can understand standings, such as paying off a faction, but SP is a no go.

3. Make the vanity items fairly priced!!

I don't seem to have an trust left in what CCP say now.

The fact they could not answer if the purchase of SP, faction standing, none vanity items and ready made ships/items was on the table, suggests it was.

That of course might be changed because of the protests over such transactions. But I am left wondering if it is over turned how long will it be before they try again.

Anyway time for some sleep.
